Coming for you – Ming Hui Chinese School
Greetings to the parents and friends!
Coming from foreign countries far away and overcoming numerous hardships, we
all have unforgettable experiences in fulfilling our dreams. What are our
sufferings and pains for then? Perhaps many of us agree that it is our children
that we put in a lot of hard work for. Isn't it true? What a wonderful parents'
love! The Chinese parents who, out of the five-thousand-year-old tradition of
civilization, respect elders and love children, naturally take great care of
their children without any resent or regret.
Nevertheless, the United States is not always the world filled with gold that
one might have imagined before. How many of us parents are not concerned about
the education of our children? Indeed, in this liberal but ever-changing
country, it is a big concern among many of our Chinese parents to ensure our
children to both prevail in competitions and grow out of troubles.
No matter how far apart we are, it is the predestined relationship that brings
us together. Step by step, we, the staff of Ming Hui Chinese School, are coming towards
you, to share the pure land of Ming Hui Chinese School with whoever is predestined to
join. Promoting the essence of the Chinese culture and emphasizing the
teachings of the traditional Chinese virtue, Ming Hui Chinese School aims at the
pluralistic teachings of educating children with virtue, influencing them with
our own manners, and blending the fun in the education by borrowing the
educational approaches of our ancestors, applying it to the present situation
of our society, tailoring it to the characteristics of each individual student,
and meeting the requirements of the parents.
The required classes in MHS include Chinese Language and Traditional Chinese
Culture, which are two separate but related classes. The Chinese class
we offer will not only stimulate the interest of the students in learning
the Chinese language, but also help them grasp the Chinese knowledge through
teaching the structures of Chinese characters and the Chinese Pinyin. In
our Traditional Chinese Culture class, by using the classic Chinese
textbooks for beginners, "Standards for
Students", and "Three Word Classic,"
and by telling stories of the interesting Chinese history, using simple but
vivid vocabularies, and adopting lively but ordered approach, we will talk
about the ancient and the present times, beginning from the mythology of how
Pangu created heaven and earth, to the glorious history of China and her
well-developed culture. This way, we help our children, who have been growing
up in the U.S., understand the Chinese civilization and pride themselves for
being Chinese descendants. To improve the efficiency of the class and to make
the classroom livelier, we compile some allusions from the history and ask the
students to act out in order to train their imagination and to improve their
ability in using the Chinese language to express themselves.
Additionally in accordance to the characteristics of children, we hold a daily
ten-minute seminar and activity of "Listen, Think, and Try," and "Good Wills,
Good Speeches, and Good Behaviors." We take good examples of these in every day
life for the students to understand, to mimic, and to improve their behaviors.
We strongly believe that parents' involvement is indispensable to the education
of the students. As a result, we strongly hope that our parents will closely
cooperate. Let us work together to promote the traditional Chinese culture and
virtue and to cultivate the high moral standards of our students in order to
make them outstanding in both talent and virtue. Such students will surely
benefit both the families and the society.
We are sincerely hopeful of seeing both you and your lovely children!
Thank you!
